We asked some of the residents about their experiences while being residents at La Gratitude. This is what they said.

“I started living here from last year September, because I dislocated my shoulder. As my injury occurred I went to the hospital on my own but did not succeed in getting help. After a month I decided to come to La Gratitude, the girls from here took me back to the hospital. They know the hospitals really well.
This time they showed me my x-ray and asked my age. When I told them that I am 89 years old, the doctor told me that an operation on my shoulder will only make everything worse and it is better to rather endure.
All the staff here from top to bottom, they are dedicated, to them it is not a matter of money, it is a calling. I appreciate that.
No Apartheid here, we stay together black and white. eat together at the table.
All these girls that cook for us, they know how to cook. No wonder why I am now stout. My trousers now, some of them don’t fit me. When I get home, they wonder, Hauw….What’s wrong. Anyway, I am happy.

Ek bly baie lekker hier en is baie gelukkig, dit is skoon en netjies.Almal is vriendelik. Die werkers wat hier is behandel mens altyd baie goed. Ek het regtig niks waaroor ek kan kla nie.
Na my man se dood wou ek nie alleen wees nie, ek en my dogters het besluit op n tehuis vir my, en het toe op La Gratitude afgekom en ons het kom kyk en onmiddelik besluit La Gratitude is my nuwe tuiste.
Ek was met die intrapslag warm verwelkom deur mede inwoners en personeel. Ek is nog nie een dag spyt dat ek La Gratitude gekies het nie, dit is soos familie hier.
Ek is baie gelukkig en het sommer vining vriende gemaak. Indien dit die Here se wil is, wil ek nog lank gespaar bly om in La Gratitude te kan woon.
Die personeel is almal wonderlik, hul gaan uit hul pad om my van hulp te wees.

What an appropriate facility to retire at. Safe and secured. Situated centrally within easy reach to two health centres, Medi Clinic and Provincial Hospital. The atmosphere at the Home is peaceful and conducive.
La Gratitude provides comprehensive services namely, administration and Management team that are competent, Nursing personnel that operates 24/7 with dedication, love and loyalty to everyone, hospitality, kitchen staff providing a well-balanced variety of meals, laundry, seamstress, housekeeping – super services from these departments, a maintenance department who are on the ball.
Recreational activities, indoor games, body and mind exercises, library services, newspapers and magazines. Our spiritual needs are met weekly and whenever necessary. An onsite weekly medical doctor, Transport services to hospital appointments is always provided, thank you. Social services – Thank you for keeping our families informed and updated about our welfare. Thank you La Gratitude from the bottom of my heart. I appreciate all of you.

Daar is baie voordele om by La Gratitude te woon:
Ek hoef nie meer te bekommer om n motor lisensie uit te neem nie.
Styging in brandstof en elektrisiteit pryse pla my nie.
As die wasmasjien breek .. Too bad! Ek hoef nie oor wasgoed te bekommer nie, La Gratitude sorg daarvoor.
Ek hoef nie my eie bed op te maak nie of kos te kook, dit word vir my gedoen.
As jy sonde het met die bure is dit ook nie my probleem nie, dit word uitgesorteer.
La Gratitude is die enigste plek waar jy spek en eiers ELKE Sondag kry. Jy kry goeie kos 3x n dag.
Ek kan heeldag in die son sit, niks pla of jaag my nie.
Kerkdienste word by die tehuis gehou, wat vir my baie belangrik is.
24/7 verpleeg personeel aan diens, altyd iemand om jou te help indien jy hulp benodig.
Ek kan nie kla nie. Ek is baie gelukkig. Baie dankie La Gratitude en sy personeel.
